One of the great debts of the Hungarian historical science is to reveal the history of Hungarians in Czechoslovakia using a scientific approach. This debt is now partially redeemed by Béla Angyal’s work, in which the author, using archive sources, presents the development of political-institutional framework of Czechoslovakia’s Hungarians finding themselves in a new country after World War I: how they established their political parties, what were the forces and motives that shaped this political scene, what where the strategies of the parties, what was their mutual relationship, what was their relationship with the majority Czech and Slovak parties, as well as parties of other minorities, and what were their relations with the Hungarian government circles. Béla Angyal’s work, which is rich in data and motivating for further research, will certainly get a positive feedback not only from researchers, but also from readers who are interested in the topic.
